I recently caught up with David Otten, founder and CEO of LongTail Video, a full-service video technology and advertising solutions company. LongTail Video is a lower-cost solution to services, such as Ooyala and Brightcove, that allow publishers to showcase their video. In this interview, David talks about LongTail Video’s new service that allows content producers to syndicate millions of bite-sized content to smaller publishers, from local news sites to bloggers. This service also allows publishers to access nearly one million pieces of video content from LongTail Video content partners, such as AOL and CNet. The type of video runs the gamut, from business, sports to entertainment. They can be video clips from news reports or how-to videos. At the moment, LongTail has 100 different verticals and about 350 content publishers distributing the videos.
Watch the interview to learn more about the publisher, content producer and LongTail economics as well as what kind of publishers are embedding these videos on their sites, and what LongTail’s overall strategy is.
(Full disclosure: Vator is a happy client of LongTail Video’s video player and ad solutions.)
