What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

Most frustrating thing is to see great ideas fail because they were 'too early' and then broken founders watch as their ideas come alive down the road...Moral of the story, if you are too early, then you must survive until it is time.

Most rewarding is solving big problems and accomplish great things for people in need.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make?

Founding a company is about only two things...Building and Selling. Balance them. You hear so many entrepreneurs that are 'heads down' and obsessed with product, but not out there recruiting, finding customers or fundraising. There is a definite balance.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

1. Entrepreneurship is the most intense, hyper-speed learning experience on the planet. Your life is figuring out how to solve problems and execute when there are no instructions.
2. Grinding will always compensate for my lack of talent and brilliance.
3. We are storytellers. Growing your business can often relate directly to the founders ability to connect peoples left and right brains. I have watched many great entrepreneurs speak and most of the great ones are so masterful at blending their mission statement into great memorable stories that we connect to.

Full bio

More than a decade ago, after a family tragedy, I became legal guardian of my 10 year old brother. I was fortunate enough to have a great support system & an after school program to help with child care. I saw great people running a very underserved business. As my career has evolved in healthcare I have been part of one the most amazing movements in our country to digitized healthcare and democratize better care for every patient. I see an even bigger opportunity in education & early learning and how the same economies can be applied to help every child care professional in the country.

Childcare professionals struggle with collections, communication, regulatory reporting and attendance management. Our platform addresses each of these. The mobile ecosystem connects parents with the centers & establishes connectivity. Our revenue engine automates every payment from day 1, and issues statements to the parent with alerts. Our 'sign-in' and 'sign-out' functionality authenticates the demanding chain of custody standards in each state. Finally, we automate reporting & analytics.
