Sales for the whole week were up four times from 2011

We all know by now that Cyber Monday sales were huge this year, bringing in a total haul of $1.46 billion and beating out Cyber Monday 2011 to become the biggest online shopping day ever. So it stands to reason that many websites would also have seen huge increases in sales too.

One website that benefited greatly from the increased activity was Fab, which saw its own record broken on Cyber Monday as well, Jason Goldberg, founder & Chief Executive Officer at Fab.com, said in a blogpost Friday.

On Cyber Monday, Fab saw $1.3 million in sales, an increase of 350% from the $350,000 it sold last year.

In all, Fab sold $6.5 million worth of merchandise, from Black Friday to Thursday November 29. Sales during the week were up fourfold from the $1.7 million in 2011. That amounts to an average of $933,500 every day.

The average order value for the week was up 10%, and more than 200,000 unique products were sold. Around 60% of Fab’s sales came from repeat buyers.

Mobile was a big factor in the increased Cyber Monday sales. According to data from IBM’s Smarter Commerce division, more than 18% of consumers used a mobile device to visit a retailer's website, an increase of over 70% from 2011. Mobile sales accounted for nearly 13% of all online sales, an increase of more than 96% from 2011.

For Fab, a third of its sales were from its mobile apps on mobile devices. The company saw record logins and purchases, especially on the iPad.

“For the first time, iPad and iPhone sales were almost equal. Previously we had been seeing more like 60% iPhone & 40% iPad. iPad also led all other platforms (vs. web & mobile phone) in terms of number of items per order and overall basket size,” Goldberg wrote.

Fab was one of to dozen companies whose Cyber Monday sales were promoted by First Round Capital, which created a new website  designed specifically to  feature exclusive Cyber Monday deals from companies the firm had invested in. Fab was listed as offering free shipping.

The shopping season is not over yet for Fab. Goldberg says that this coming Monday, December 3, is the official Cyber Monday in the United Kingdom. Fab broke into the UK market earlier this year, when it purchased design store LLUSTRE in July, turning into Fab UK.

With another big shopping day coming up, Fab has to be hoping that it can once again break its own records.
