The Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexux 10 all run on the new Android 4.2

Google may have had to cancel its planned Android event in New York City Monday due to the hurricane (if you’ve been watching the news at all, I think we can all agree that was a good idea. Look out for those falling cranes!). That did not stop the company from unveiling its new products to the world though, even if it did have to do it on its blog.

Google announced three new Nexus products, plus an updated version of Jelly Bean, called Android 4.2.

Let’s go through each one separately.

Android 4.2

The latest version of Jelly Bean, Android 4.2, comes with a slew of new and updated features. Each of the new devices runs on the new platform.

Google Now: new cards, including flight information, restaurant reservations, hotel confirmations and shipping details. There are also now cards for nearby attractions, interesting photo spots, movie times at nearby theaters or concerts by your favorite artists.

Photo Sphere: allows users to take 360-degree photographs

Gesture Typing: users can type by gliding their finger over the letters, only lifting after each word. Spaces are added automatically and the keyboard can even predict the next word with suggestions.

Android's dictionaries now have improved text-to-speech capabilities, so voice typing on Android is even better.

Multiple users on one tablet: each tablet users can now have their own homescreen, background, widgets, apps and games. Switching between users will not require logging in and out.

Wireless display: users can share movies, YouTube videos, and anything that’s on their screen on an HDTV. Just connect a wireless display adapter to any HDMI-enabled TV to mirror what’s on your screen quickly and easily.

Daydream: Android devices can display information when they are idle or docked, including photo albums and news from Google currents.

Notifications: users can see all of their notifications by swiping down from the top of the screen.

Google Search: Android now allows users to search the web through voice.
