Big Frame lands $3M seed round to manage YouTube talent
YouTube stars need representation too, and Big Frame specializes in online fame
A young talent agency focused on helping YouTube posters gain more fame, Big Frame, announced Wednesday that it raised $3 million in seed funding from Anthem Venture Partners, Daher Capital, DFJ Frontier, LaunchPad LA, New World Ventures, The Media Farm, and Social Starts, as well as angels such as Diego Berdakin, Dave Goldberg, Peter Gotcher, Clark Landry, Adam Lilling, and Dan Murray.
The company just launched one year ago quickly signed up some of the most-watched independent producers on the site - helping these content creators monetize their videos and get a wider audience.
In December the agency's clients received 100 million monthly video views and 8.3 million monthly unique visitors from the US alone.
The agency got its start by signing up YouTube talent like Mystery Guitar Man, Destorm Power, and Mike Diva, but it’s quickly grown to represent more than 100 YouTube channels. Big Frame has also scored a spot as part of YouTube’s original programming initiative, where YouTube started by throwing down more than $100 million to bring more than 100 branded channels online to create higher-end content.
While working within YouTube, Big Frame has landed some other big deals for its talent with brands such as 20th Century Fox, Levis, Home Depot, Sony, and Virgin Mobile.
The Los Angeles-based firm made it through the first year without any funding and has grown its team to 16 people, but now this new funding will go toward an increase its marketing and sales team, as well as its programming development organization.
Big Frame has even launched its own lYouTube channel, Bammo, featuring the firm's various talent all in one spot.
With more people looking to find new, original content online, Big Frame seems to be pioneering this specialized field of online, discovered talent and the VCs are following them. Now if I could just figure out how to work my iMovie.
