What Am I Missy? Episode 18
Detroit-based WaTunes wants to help artists get to the next level. How? This week, the online music distribution service, added social networking and commerce features like artist profiles, discovery & sharing of music, friends, video channels and the ability to purchase ringtones from favorite artists. Of course there's already MySpace, which is the dominant social network for musicians. But there's a difference between the sites.MySpace is "broadway" and WaTunes is the "local club", where it's easier to get noticed. The site is for the "up and coming" and unknown musicians. As a musician, I know the music business is one of the hardest to break into. Maybe WaTunes will be a place that gives some struggling artists a break.
