Today’s Entrepreneur is Hoang Nhu, Founder of KoolTechs, Inc. a company that has a mission to bring to the marketplace unique consumer and health & wellness products and inventions that enhance all aspects of everyday life. They are responsible for the products like “Open Me” Smart Bottle Cap, Vital Sign Monitoring Smart Plug, and Whole-house BTL mesh network. Nhu went to California Polytechnic University, in Pomona for his degree in ECE in 1984 and on 1989 he went to University of Washington for his MS in Electrical Engineering.
KoolTechs, Inc (currently in the top-15 semi-finalist) is competing in Vator Splash Health startup competition. The top six finalists will compete and present live on stage in front of several hundred tech influencers (CEOs, media and investors).

What’s most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation? Your ideas can get ridiculed or praised as innovative by different people, one day to the next. Sometimes, even by the same person.
What’s the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make? They underestimate the amount of energy, time required to build a startup for the long term journey
What are the top three lessons you’ve learned as an entrepreneur?
- The people behind the team and their complementary skills are a startup’s utmost critical success factor. That is the reason for KoolTechs slogan : “Best of one, power of many.”
- Learn to execute both “build a product” and “build a business” , almost in parallel.
- Stay focused but prepare to be adaptive and flexible as technologies and product cycle are very dynamic nowadays.
Full Bio:
Thirty years of hands-on experience (HP, Broadcom, and startups) in state-of-the-art product innovation and development of digital signal processing algorithms, SoC System-on-Chip architecture/design, wireless, mobile HW/SW application platform, and emerging technologies. Continuous proven track record in taking innovative products from ideas to development, mass production and market commercialization. Result-driven leadership and proven ability to work with a small team as well as manage large hardware, software teams. Strong hands-on technical background with 11 issued patents and 10 pending patents.
