Scott CoteEntrepreneurs often choose the path of innovation, without realizing the kind of lifestyle that comes with it.  They will often live unstable lives. But as they courageously take risks, they’ll make several mistakes which become valuable lessons for the rest of us.

They have their ups and downs. But at the end of the day, these creative daredevils are the ones who are changing the world.

Within our community you will find a number of talented innovators.

This year, we created new profiles for our Vator members to share their story. So if you are a first-time, serial, or even an aspiring entrepreneur, we’d like to hear from you.

Today’s entrepreneur is Scott Cote, founder and CEO of Sherlock-NMD.  According to his VEQ (Vator’s entrepreneur self-assessment test), he’s a thought leader and is good at networking and team motivation.

Scott claims that when starting your own company, the most important things is being able to see clearly what you are, who you are, and what you are good (and not so good) at.

Scott’s company, Sherlock-NMD, produces a non-invasive, diagnostic health system for humans.  He recommends researching every aspect an entrepreneurial project: the technology, the regulatory environment, the future of the field, the players in the marketplace and the reality of current customers.

I.E.Q. (Project)

If you are an entrepreneur, why?

I want to change the world.

What’s most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

Helping everyone see what I can already see!

The lack of professionalism in business, IE. simple follow through and mutual respect. Poor customer service really is the downfall of most companies.

What’s the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make?

Not taking the time to first see if they should. Having a great idea is one thing but that doesn’t mean you should develop it. You need to understand all the ins and outs of your business and that takes a lot of dedicated research.

What are the top three lessons you’ve learned as an entrepreneur?

Research is critical, you must have a leader with unwavering faith in the project/company, and a strong team will get you far.
