Social Media Rank. We are the Alexa for People.
Startup/business
flags/United States.gif California, United States
http://viralogy.com

Viralogy is a social media rank that incorporates many social media metrics such as Blogs, Votes, Twitter, Facebook/LinkedIn, Youtube, Pagerank and more to map out how influential a person is on the internet.

With data gathered from the internet and from blogs that have integrated our Viralogy Script, we aggregate all the social media  metrics into an algorithm that determines the VScore – similar to a Google Pagerank for a person’s online influence.

Viralogy allows bloggers to

1. Build authority in their niche

2. Get discovered by more readers

3. Monetize their  blogs

On the other hand, Viralogy allows marketers to

1. Find the top thousand influencers in their niche

2. Do analytics research on  these influencers for high ROI

3. Get in touch with the influencers with a high response rate

Through Viralogy, companies are able to promote their brand or products quickly through Social Media and reach rising-stars before their competitors do.

Conceptually, Viralogy is the "Alexa for People."

Business model

Our team is focused on making Viralogy a profitable business instead of just a popular website. Our value proposition enables a four-phase revenue plan to monetize all opportunities with our platform.

Phase 1: Monthly premium plan that helps marketers Locate, Research, and Contact Influencers in their niche

Phase 2: Sell social data reports we collect from our blogging network to large companies for market research
Phase 3: Traditional on-site advertisement revenue, which is a standard model for all sites with significant traffic
Phase 4: Blog Ad Network that takes advantage of all our blog's traffic and take a commission off click-thrus

Competitive advantage

Viralogy’s current competition is composed of blogging hubs/directories, blogger ranks, and analytics websites that attempt to organize, aggregate, and quantify the best content online. This includes Technorati, Izea, Compete and Quantcast. Viralogy has a good outlook because no one on the internet takes a holistic approach on an individual's entire influence nor do they have EXACT analytical data on sites.

IP and defensibility

Viralogy does not hold any patented technology. However, besides the built up brand name and community, Viralogy holds a strong barrier to entry.

To get a higher VScore, many bloggers input our script into their own blogs. This script will track their EXACT traffic, as well as detailed analytics (whereas compete.com, quantcast.com or even Nielsen are just estimated traffic). As time goes by and we have gathered a lot of bloggers with the script, this will become a very concrete barrier of entry that a new company or a fortune 500 cannot just use a larger team of engineers and replicate.
