Oracle buys ATG for $1B; Boku courted by Apple and Google? Logo.com domain sold for $500k

Tipppr launched Tuesday a white-label, group-buying platform that will allow companies to run their own online group-buying campaigns. Tippr provides both the software and the support that makes this possible. The site hopes to be an alternative to Groupon.

iOS 4.2 has been released to developers. This version of the operating system, used on iPhones, iPads and iPod Touchs, will likely reach consumers in the next few weeks. The new version features an upgraded multitasking bar. The new bar has  both Volume and Brightness controls in one spot. It will also feature the new AirPlay button.

Logo.com was bought by Logo.com for $500,000. The purchase was made through a domain marketplace, known as Sedo. The site is set to launch in Q1 of next year.

Google is suing the U.S. Department of the Interior. They claim that the department was praticing anti-competitive behavior, when they would only consider email options based on Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Suite-Federal, during the bidding process for the new contract, which would have brought in 88,000+ potential new customers.

BlueGlass Interactive released a content creation tool for publishers. The tool is called CopyPress. CopyPress will allow publishers to pick content, that was made by teams working for BlueGlass, and publish it on their site. BlueGlass will not publish the content themselves.



Oracle bought out ATG for $6 per share, or roughly $1 billion. ATG makes eCommerce software. ATG reported a third quarter revenue of $50.3 million.

 


Nielsen published a study on smart phones. It showed that as of the third quarter of this year 28% of U.S. mobile subscribers now have smartphones. This includes Apple’s iPhone, RIM’s Blackberry devices and a variety of Google Android-based operating system. The study also delves into some interesting demographic information about users.

Amazon.com, Inc. announced a new way to send Amazon.com Gift Cards. Users can now send friends on Facebook an Amazon giftcard. The  also allows users to create a personalized gift card that will be delivered on the recipient's Facebook Wall. The amount goes up to $5,000 and can be set up to a year in advance.

Boku has garnered interest from both Apple and Google. Both companies are interested in buying the mobile payment start up for their own. No specifics have been released yet as to who will be chosen.
