Greenstart is a startup accelerator for cleantech. We help the most promising cleantech startups achieve greater success, faster. The winner of our cleantech business plan competition will receive 25k in seed funding, three months of mentoring, valuable connections, and the chance to pitch to leading angel investors and venture capitalists at the end of the program.

Requirements:

Greenstart focuses on cleantech companies that can validate their business model quickly and inexpensively. We define cleantech as businesses whose products or services either expand the use of renewable energy or reduce the use of dirty energy. This could mean clean web, renewable energy sources or distribution, energy efficiency, and other possibilities we haven’t even considered -- yet. Wild and crazy ideas are welcomed and encouraged. As long as it grows the use of clean energy or reduces the use of dirty energy, and its business model can be validated quickly and inexpensively, we’re interested. Companies that can have national or worldwide impact will be given preference.

Rules:

Provide your Vator Profile within Greenstart's application form. Anyone without a Greentstart application form will not be considered.

Greenstart reserves the right to choose multiple winners within this competition.
Greenstart reserves the right to select only one contestant if the other nine do not meet our criteria.
The winner will be chosen during the last week of August 2011.
All finalists will be interviewed prior to the winner or winners being chosen.

Applicants must have a business or business idea whose products or services either expand the use of renewable energy or reduce the use of dirty energy.

David Graham

Partner, Greenstart

Dave Graham has been starting, building and investing in technology startups for more than a decade as Managing Partner at ArizonaBay Technology Ventures. Before that, Dave co-founded consumer Internet startup OpenAuto in 1999. Dave believes in lean startups, the Customer Development model, and that too much capital too soon can be fatal for new ventures. Dave is a board member at CloudSponge, TrustMe and SpineDigital, and works with at-risk youth as a Board Member at The Wolfe Center. Dave received his MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and Bachelors Degree from UCLA.

Mitch Lowe

Founding Partner, Greenstart

Mitch Lowe brings more than 15 years experience as a founder, CEO, angel investor, startup mentor and board member. Mitch founded his first company at age 23 and was employee number two at consumer Internet startup OpenAuto in 1999. In 2001, he founded Jumpstart Automotive Media and was CEO until February 2009, seeing it from pre-revenue to more than $50 million, and from two employees to more than one hundred. In 2007, Jumpstart sold to HFMUS, and in 2009 Mitch invested in and became board chairman at Quirky, a social product development startup based in New York City.
