Michael brings 22 years of internet, media and consumer technology experience to Skytide, with a keen understanding of the digital media market that the company serves. A three-time CEO, he has a strong track record in growing startups, mid-tier and larger, publicly-traded companies.
Michael most recently served as President of Social Media, Cisco Media Solutions Group. He joined Cisco after it acquired Five Across, a social networking software company where he was President & CEO. Prior to those positions, Michael ran his own digital media consultancy; was CEO of BitPass, a digital media payments company; and was CEO & President of Salon Media Group, a pioneering internet media company that he brought public. He was also one of the founding board members of the Online Publishers Association. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Michael resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and four children.
Joseph is responsible for shaping the company’s strategic vision and technologies to meet the fast-growing needs of the business intelligence marketplace. Joseph has more than 20 years of software development and management experience and has founded or co-founded four companies including Skytide and ChainCast Networks.
As executive vice president and CTO of ChainCast Networks, the first provider of commercial peer-to-peer software for broadcast streaming, he grew the company into the largest streaming provider for terrestrial radio broadcasters in the U.S. with a client list including ClearChannel, NTT, Cox, and ABC. Joseph was also a founding engineer, development manager and architect of Essbase and IBM DB2 OLAP servers at Hyperion Solutions (formerly Arbor Software). Joseph holds an M.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Moscow Polytechnique University.
A 20-year veteran of the database industry, Nat leads the software development and engineering efforts for Skytide. In 1996, Nat co-founded Cloudscape, developer of the first Java ORDBMS, which was later acquired by Informix Software, and in turn acquired by IBM. At Cloudscape, Nat defined the architecture and implemented most of the storage system of the Cloudscape DBMS, the technology now provided by IBM as open source though the Apache Derby project.
Prior to Cloudscape, Nat led development projects at Sybase, Oracle, and Sequent. At Sybase, he defined the symmetric multiprocessing architecture (SMP) for Sybase SQL Server, and wrote a large section of the kernel and access level code for SMP support. Nat holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Princeton University.
Patrick serves as Skytide's Vice President of Marketing. He brings 25 years of marketing and business development experience, with a special focus on digital media, advertising and web services. As SVP of Operations at Salon.com he launched Salon Premium, one of the Web's first successful content subscription services, and led development of the internet's first "day pass" access model. He has also worked in account management for multi-national advertising agencies including JWT and Publicis & Hal Riney, for brands that include Motorola, Sprint PCS and Harley-Davidson. Patrick is a graduate of Marquette University and lives in Oakland with his wife and two children.
