Business model

SecondMarket’s private company market creates liquidity for holders of private company stock while providing buyers with unique investment opportunities. SecondMarket offers a hybrid approach in which it combines both an electronic and voice trading model allowing buyers and sellers to work directly with market specialists from the very start of the transaction process until the settlement of the trade. There is no subscription fee to join SecondMarket, and it is free to list assets, bid, to receive market color and to access the data & analytics to make informed investment decisions. SecondMarket only charges a fee once a trade is consummated.

Competitive advantage

SecondMarket’s Private Company Program offers private companies a unique liquidity model for their stakeholders, including founders, current and former employees, angel investors, and venture capital firms. The program enables accredited and institutional investors to gain access to unique private company investment opportunities not available anywhere else, while affording private companies an effective way to raise capital and control secondary liquidity in their shares.
