Company description
Ridejoy is a community marketplace of friendly people sharing rides. We help drivers and passengers connect and get where they need to go in a fun and cost-affordable way.
Ridejoy currently helps thousands of people find rides between 300 cities on the West Coast from Vancouver, BC to Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Reno/Tahoe and Las Vegas.
Team
Ridejoy was founded by Kalvin Wang, Randy Pang and Jason Shen.
Kalvin grew up in the Bay Area, studied computer science at Stanford, and worked at six Silicon Valley companies during summers and after college, most recently for One Block Off the Grid, a solar web startup.
Randy previously worked on one of the largest websites in the world, Scribd, crafting the future of reading and publishing. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Jason previously worked at isocket, an ad tech company, and ran business operations for a local newspaper in the Bay Area. He holds a B.S. with honors and an M.S., both from Stanford University where he co-captained an NCAA championship-winning gymnastics team.
Business model
Ridejoy is a marketplace. It's free to create an account, post rides, search through listings and message other users. If drivers choose to request prepayment of the shared expenses on the trip via credit card, Ridejoy will add a small fee.
