Faveeo.com is a social discovery engine, that uses the hidden relationships between users of the web, to allow them to automatically discover new, interesting, and personalized content. By mashing up social media and the semantic web, faveeo creates relations between users so that they can tap into the collective intelligence to find personalized content.
We have achieved a great balance in our team, sincewe're not all computer engineers, but two of the three members of theteam actually come from a social sciences background. Of course thetechnical challenges are really important for this project, and wegreatly value the presence and the committment of Aron Novak in ourteam, but we know that to achieve a project like this one, we needmore than pure technical skills, but more of a « world-hacker »spirit, where we try to rethink the way users actually interact withthe internet, and the information society in general. Alexis Dufresneis an « internet sociologist » and he has this« distance » to analyze long term trends, and to guidethe project, so that it can really represent the future of the web!
These theoretical ideas, that are the basis offaveeo.com emerged because of our social sciences (sociology ofinformation and anthropology of techniques) background and help uspush the limits of the faveeo.com project outside the simpletechnical issues and aspects of such a project. With this team, weare aiming to rethink the way people use the web and get access toinformation, and are also able to materialize our ideas into code.
Faveeo.com can make money in several ways. The firstobvious one, is of course to sell advertisement on our site. As wecan provide a really powerful tagging system, advertizers could verywell buy click based advertisement on specific pages of faveeo, either at a fixed rate or using an « Adwords-like »system of bidding on specific keywords. We can also eventuallyimplement some « behavioral » ads where advertisers wouldtarget people with certain interests and not only specific keywords.
