- Galvanize Therapeutics, a commercial-stage medical technology company developing pulsed electric field therapies for oncology and chronic lung disease, raised a $100 million Series C round led by Sofinnova Partners, with participation from Norwest Venture Partners, Elevage Medical Technologies, Ally Bridge Group, Perceptive Xontogeny Venture Fund, Janus Henderson Investors and Longaeva. Existing investors Fidelity Management & Research Company, T. Rowe Price, Gilmartin Capital, Intuitive Surgical and Apple Tree Partners also participated in the round
- ViCentra, a medical device company developing an insulin patch pump designed to be a lifestyle product, raised an $85 million Series D round led by Innovation Industries, with matching participation from existing investors Partners in Equity and Invest-NL, alongside continued support from EQT Life Sciences and Health Innovations

- Seekho, a provider of educational content through curated and personalised short videos on its platform, raised a $28 million Series B round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, along with Goodwater Capital and existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Elevation Capital

- Joint Ai, an AI-powered triage platform designed to help automate the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for patients suffering from knee and hip arthritis, raised $315,000 from the Richard King Mellon Foundation
- Revalia Bio, a startup that helps companies test new therapies on human organs, raised $14.5 million in seed funding in a round co-led by America’s Frontier Fund and Sierra Ventures, with participation from Roger Ferguson as well as other existing backers
- NewDays, a company that combines regular telehealth appointments with expert clinicians and AI-powered cognitive exercises delivered by its AI companion, raised a $7 million seed round from General Catalyst and Madrona
- Salient Bio, developer of microbiome-based diagnostic test for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, raised a £2.35 million seed funding round led by THENA Capital
- FlexifyMe, an AI-powered healthtech company focused on physiotherapy-based diagnosis and treatment of pain, raised ₹20 crore in pre-Series A funding led by IvyCap Ventures, with participation from Signal Ventures and existing investors
Policy and government
- First Lady Melania Trump hosted a meeting of the White House’s AI education task force where several CEOs touted their commitments. Google said it would allocate $150 million of the $1 billion it already pledged toward education and job training to “grants to support AI education and digital wellbeing.” Microsoft is offering students access to Copilot with a free year of Microsoft 365 Personal if they verify with a school account, and offering free LinkedIn Learning courses on AI to students and teachers. And Amazon says it will help train 4 million people in AI skills and “enable AI curricula” for 10,000 educators in the US by 2028, while offering $30 million in AWS credits for organizations using cloud and AI tech in education
- Washington, California, and Oregon launched the new West Coast Health Alliance in response to what they say is President Trump destroying the CDC’s credibility. The announcement says the group will help protect people using science and not politics. The alliance says it will be committed to ensuring public health recommendations are guided by safety, efficacy, transparency, access and trust. It will start with creating guidelines that align immunization recommendations with trusted national medical organizations

- Several urgent care workers in Santa Barbara were fired after a TikTok taken inside medical exam rooms went viral over Labor Day weekend. The post shows a compilation of photos where Sansum Clinic workers were joking and posing with patients’ bodily fluids left on exam tables. Text over one of the first images reads, “Are patients allowed to leave you guys gifts?” followed by slides showing staff laughing, pointing, and even posing playfully around the stains with the caption: “guess the substance!” In another frame, the on-screen words say “all shades and opacities.”
