Anh-Tuan Le, a licensed professional engineer, has extensive U.S. and international consulting experience in planning and delivering critical infrastructure projects in the transportation, energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors.  He has worked in large consulting and design-construct companies, operated his own engineering consulting firm, and served in government to oversight federally funded transit projects.  His projects, characterized by sustainable community-oriented design solutions, have earned him the accolade “Planner’s Engineer”, along with awards and recognition such as California Governor’s Small Business of the Year, United Way Philanthropy, and the American Public Works Association Project of the Year.   Recently, Anh-Tuan co-founded the Green Orange sustainability initiative that partners with academia and the private sector on greening projects compliant with California’s Assembly Bill 32 climate change mandate.  He currently resides in Orange County in southern California where he serves on the Taxpayers’ Oversight Committee of Orange County’s $12 billion transportation program.

Since 1975, Anh-Tuan Le has been active in the San Francisco Bay Area’s Southeast Asian population to work on community development and neighborhood safety and revitalization issues.  He has served on boards and advisory groups such as the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, North of Market Planning Coalition, Concerned Businesspersons of the Tenderloin, San Francisco Beautiful, the Southeast Asian Community Center, and the National Council of Asian American Business Associations.  Anh-Tuan has avidly supported San Francisco Enterprise, Junior Achievement, the Asian American Architects and Engineers, and the American Society of Civil Engineers Young Members Forum to promote youth leadership training.  He represented the City and County of San Francisco on various advisory committees of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and has parlayed planning expertise into leading envisioning charrettes in emergent communities in San Francisco, San Jose, Fresno, and central Orange County toward advocacy and policy guidance.  Throughout the 1990s, Anh-Tuan’s leadership and service on the Board of Directors of the California-Asia Business Council provided a moderating and pragmatic voice when U.S.-Vietnam bilateral relations were formative. 

Anh-Tuan Le has served as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of the $3 million International Road Education Fund that trains transportation officials from emergent economies.  An AACSB-certified lecturer in management, Anh-Tuan has taught professional education courses and served for many years on the NCEE professional engineering examination team.   He earned civil engineering degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, (B.S., 1970; M.S., 1971), where he had worked for the late Prof. Morton S. Hilbert who co-founded Earth Day, and his graduate adviser was the prominent earthquake researcher, Prof. Glenn V. Berg.
