Welcome to Vator.TV's second business plan video-pitch competition, called the Vator.TV AO Media-pitch competition. This competition is in partnership with Tony Perkin's AlwaysOn. The kick-off will be Jan. 30, at AlwaysOn's Media conference held in New York. The winner of the video pitch contest will get a chance to receive funding and mentorship from Vator angels, including Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal and one of the leading public and private investors in Silicon Valley , and will be highlighted on Vator.tv. Additionally, we'll fly the winner to the AlwaysOn OnHollywood event in early May. The winner will be able to give a six-minute CEO pitch to an audience of AlwaysOn investors.
Anyone can participate. We encourage students - high school, college, graduate - to entrepreneurs and inventors from around the world to anyone with an idea, really.
Get the Vator community to help the AO videos. These video pitches will be public so the Vator community can help vet the deals. So, for those pitching, encourage your friends or colleagues to comment and rate your video pitches and/or to upload their own video pitch about why your video pitch is the best. For those who don't want to share their secret sauce, share what you can. But remember: Success is 2% idea, 98% execution. In other words: Ideas are one thing, executing is everything.
What to include in your up to 2-minute pitch? Here are some guidelines:
  • Be original
  • Demonstrate your value proposition
  • Make it fun and entertaining
  • Explain the market size/opportunity
  • Avoid interview style presentations (boring!)
  • Tell us what keeps you up at night
  • Why are you better than your rivals? (And don't say you don't have any!)
  • What was the original need that sparked the idea for your start-up?
  • How does your role as a start-up entrepreneur impact your life?
  • What have you sacrificed for your start-up?
  • What if it fails?
