My training and background is in experimental physics, which is an excellent proving ground for developing new systems. I spent 12 years at a private company developing their subscription database service. I have all sorts of skills including leadership, analysis, problem solving, design, implementation, operations, sales & marketing. For fun I love to design and build things and go deep in the outdoors. Quote_down

Entrepreneur

If you're an entrepreneur or corporate innovator, why?

I want to change the world.

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

I always wish that I could spend more time creating and less time fundraising.

Full bio

My training and background are in experimental physics.

From 1990 until 1997 I worked on the CDMS experiment, which is searching for a proposed Dark Matter particle called Weakly Interacting Massive Particles or WIMPs.

CDMS operates within extremely challenging design parameters.  I started as student machinist  but quickly became the experiment's design and troubleshooting ace.  Along the way I designed, built, and integrated vacuum systems, electrical systems, electronic systems, thermal systems, mechanical systems and software systems.  I taught myself how to program!

From 1997 until 2008 I worked at Recombinant Capital, a consulting company with expertise in life sciences technology licensing.  I started as a programmer and my first project was to digitize the company's archive of public contracts.  I was instrumental in building the company's online database business, taking responsibility for sales and marketing as well as branding, database development, internal application development, IT infrastructure, and operations.

In 2008 Recombinant Capital was acquired by Deloitte.  In 2009, with my obligations to Deloitte complete, I form DeliciousNutritious.

Before earning my way into the UC Berkeley physics program I led a somewhat feral early life, dropping out of high school and working every odd job imaginable.  I scrap as hard and hungry as anyone.

Recreationally I prefer outdoor activities that involve personal suffering and/or travel at high rates of speed.  I'm particularly obsessed with climbing and riding my snowboard in the backcountry
