I am a(n):

Entrepreneur

If you're an entrepreneur or corporate innovator, why?

Small businesses can change the world.

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

The most frustrating thing about being an entrepreneur is that things do not proceed as quickly as you'd like.

The most rewarding part of being an entrepreneur is the creativity.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs/innovators make?

Not bringing on solid financial management and strategic planning expertise right at the beginning.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

1. Focus on your customers not short term profits.
2. Know your numbers.
3. Strategy and numbers go hand in hand.

Full bio

I turn ordinary numbers into valuable and strategic business information.  I'm a CFO with 26 years of experience and I make businesses more profitable.  I implement simple tools that quickly and easily track key indicators so that businesses don't fly blind.  I work with business owners as a strategic partner to identify opportunities that increase profits, optimize cash flow and prevent financial problems before they occur.  I'm a CFO with a CEO perspective.

I like working with start-ups who:

  • Want a financial projection that serves as a magnet for investors.
  • Want an accounting system that goes beyond the bottom line.
  • Want a financially and operationally seasoned veteran on their side.
