  Dr. Jason Hess specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery in San Diego and is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is highly regarded by his patients for his meticulous attention to detail and his gentle bedside manner. 

Dr. Hess grew up in the Midwest where he gained the core values he maintains today. He knew from early childhood that he wanted to study medicine and become a surgeon. Dr. Hess has always loved drawing and the field of art, so plastic surgery was the perfect outlet to explore and perfect techniques. Plastic surgery is by far the most creative mix of art and medicine because a surgeon has to go beyond the text book and think outside the box to tailor each specific want and need for a patient.

His education began at the Ohio State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in Molecular Genetics.In medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, an award reserved for the top 10% of physicians. At the University of Texas in Houston, one of the busiest trauma centers in the country, Dr. Hess began his general surgery training. This center is acclaimed as the largest medical complex in the world.

Then, he dedicated a year to basic science research in the study of peripheral nerve regeneration at Washington University with one of the nation’s leading experts in peripheral nerve surgery.  

He went on to study Medicine at Wright State University Booneshoft School of Medicine where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. 

Dr. Hess studied hand and microsurgery at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital. He completed his plastic surgical training at Wayne State University under Dr. Ian Jackson, who is considered to be one of the founding fathers of plastic surgery.   Dr. Hess has lectured at national and international conferences and has authored multiple journal articles and book chapters.

Dr. Hess is known for the hardest of plastic surgical procedures of the face and body. He performs, but not limited to, facelift, rhinoplasty (nose job), neck lift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), breast augmentation, breast lift and mommy makeovers.

He abides by a strict code of conduct and practice philosophy to treat every patient like family, as he prides himself in building a practice where the majority of his patients are based upon patient referral.
