I am a(n):

Entrepreneur

If you're an entrepreneur or corporate innovator, why?

I want to invent something cool.

My favorite startups:

Circle, Houzz, Ness, Prismatic, Foursquare, Mailbox, Venmo and Whisper

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

The most rewarding thing about entrepreneurship is the ability to create something new that positively impacts the lives of others. The most frustrating thing is that its a lonely road.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs/innovators make?

They think their idea is perfect and are too afraid to iterate and pivot until the users tell them its perfect.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

Never settle and always move fast.
Fire yourself every morning so you come to work with fresh ideas and passion.
Build a great team and company culture that can withstand the hardships of life at a start-up.

Matt is founder of Appsurdity, a new company that strives to create mobile apps that unleash connections, communication and creativity in a way that may seem absurd today, but will become the standard very soon.  Appsurdity’s first app, Dubbler, is live in the iTunes App Store, Google Play and Amazon Market Place and is the newest social network that is changing the way people communicate socially by bringing Voice back to social media. Previously, Murphy was the General Manager of Bling Nation, a provider of mobile technology services; Chief Marketing Officer & Co-Founder of Lemon.com and the CMO at Chegg, the leader in textbook rentals.  Murphy was also the head of Advertising & Media at E*TRADE Financial and won numerous awards for his work, including a Clio, Effie and Stevie Award.
