Most frustrating : selling into a difficult market

Not using mentors and advisors to their capacity

Egos are unhelpful, business is cold, focus focus focus.

Dr. Mandy Salomon is co-founder and CEO at Mentia, a digital therapeutics company delivering customized evidenced-based therapies to the point of care within the USA’s $415billion long-term care services sector. An inventor, leveraging achievements in theatre, tv & digital media and applied research with Silicon Valley agility to help organizations improve health outcomes while increasing caregiver and client retention. Published author and international speaker on gerontechnology. Passionate advocate of person-centered and relationship-centered care solutions informed by co-design. PhD awarded in 2016 for interdisciplinary research in the fields of Media, Gerontology and Human-computer interaction to break down the digital divide experienced by people impacted by dementia. Named “One of 26 Aussie Rockstar Founders working in the US” (ACS, 2019), Mandy serves on the consultative committee of the Dementia Action Alliance (USA) and is proud to be a value-added partner of The Eden Alternative, an international consortium driving cultural change for the world’s aging populations.

Year 1: Acquired seed-round funding lead by leading Silicon Valley digital health investor; incorporated in the US; received the highly-sought but hard to obtain Investor/Employee E2 Visa. Began building the team.

Year 2: Developed DevaWorld™, the first virtual world designed specifically for health management for people with cognitive impairments and their caregivers. Investigated the US’ troubled health system to understand product-market fit. Established the Mentia and DevaWorld brands and created the category ‘Connected Dementia Therapy’. Achieved Forbes nomination as one of ‘7 Senior Tech Companies to Watch’ (2017), Sompo/Aging2.0 announce Mentia as one of 9 ‘High Impact Start-ups in Senior Tech’ in their global search (2018). Invited to exhibit, present and media attention in leading publications.

Year 3 Market entry 2019 led to institutional customers in home care and senior living spanning Canada, the US and Australia. Company focus is now on reaching revenue targets, expanding our product and acquiring strategic and venture investment in order to scale.
