I am a(n):

Aspiring entrepreneur

If you're an entrepreneur or corporate innovator, why?

I want to change the world.

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

Challenges--the frustrations of know you could do so much more if you had the ample resources. Challenges--the rewarding feeling of realizing of how much can be done with so little. Challenges make you face your fears, makes you overcome them, and teaches you the ability to focus and prioritization. But what is the most fascinating part, is how it makes you creative. Even if you don't think you're a creative person, somehow pushing through the challenges, once they've been tackled, you look back and think "wow, I did it". That's an incredible feeling.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs/innovators make?

Overconfidence that leads to under-forecasting and under-planning--which can lead to the demise of even the greatest ideas.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

Realize any plan, budget, or strategy always has surprises that you must plan for by having a plan B. Passion is the most valuable asset to convey to influence others to join, support, and or invest in your organization. Partnerships and strategic alliance are critical. When resources are limited, the right partnerships are everything.

We Are Communities has seen the growth of partnerships between social groups and companies.  This type of co-support marketing is called Cause-Marketing. Cause marketing provides market and community exposure for the company providing the financial support to a particular cause. While the non-profit receiving financial support provided for a loyal customer following and community recognition of goodwill. We Are Communities mission is to take this valuable model to a whole new level--the "local" level.

There are over 25million small and medium businesses in the US that are needing marketing and sales support that will meet their budgeting needs. While simultaneously, local consumers are looking to work with local businesses that can support their service and or product needs. Why local? Because consumers vote with their money. For every $1 spent on-line, $5 is spent within a 50 miles radius from their homes. That's a lot of voting. And since both businesses and consumers know the need and desire to support vital education and community based programs--there's a natural synergy between all three, the only key element is a natural bond.

We Are Communities Foundation is mission to  be that bond. We Are's unique ability through our We Are Local platform will provide a method for stimulating growth in our  communities by networking local businesses with their neighboring customers and financing local school and community programs through sponsorship and fundraising.
