The Council will support the company's AI platform, which it unveiled last year

In September 2023, accounting and consulting firm EY launched EY.ai, its AI platform which it said was "able to tap into the full spectrum of AI knowledge and insights," which it would make available to companies "looking to revolutionize their operations with AI."

Along with its clients, EY itself is one of the organizations looking to implement AI, but simply having the knowledge is only one piece of the puzzle. So, a year after the launch of EY.ai, the company announced the establishment of the EY.ai Global AI Advisory Council, which it says will provide the latest insights and guidance necessary to stay at the forefront of AI technology.

The Global AI Advisory Council will act as a sounding board for EY as it manages the deployment of AI, assisting the global EY organization in navigating the AI landscape, helping to foster innovation, strengthen the EY AI ecosystem, and addressing the societal impact.

The Council will focus its guidance and input across three domains, the first being directing AI development and deployment within the EY organization and its affiliated entities. That means sharing insights on how the technology is developing, including breakthroughs and emerging risks.

The second domain will be to help EY professionals serve their clients' transformations and how they deploy AI in their organizations. It will also assess the EY organization on broader AI powered industry transformation and verticalization.

Finally, the Council will address global challenges through innovative uses of AI, including climate change, health and wellness, education, the digital divide, and access to tools by marginalized groups and societies, among others, while also working to mitigate risks to people and society.

Raj Sharma, EY's Global Managing Partner of Growth and Innovation, will act as the Chair of EY.ai Global AI Advisory Council, while Gil Forer, Digital and Business Disruption Leader for the EY organization, will lead the Council.

Other inaugural members of the EY.ai Global AI Advisory Council include: Rotem Alaluf, Founder and CEO of Wand AI; Maurice Conti, founder and CEO of Applied Intelligence; David De Cremer, founder of the Centre on AI Technology for Humankind at the National University of Singapore; Daniel Dines, founder and CEO of UiPath; Nathanael Fast, Associate Professor of Management & Organization and Director of the Neely Center for Ethical Leadership and Decision Making at the USC Marshall School of Business; Stephanie Ifayemi, Head of Policy at Partnership on AI; Kate Kallot, founder and CEO of Amini; Clara Neppel, Senior Director, European Business Operations at Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers; Sunita Sarawagi, Founding Head at Center for Machine Intelligence and Data Science, IIT Bombay; Shannon Vallor, Professor of Ethics of Data and AI at University of Edinburgh; and Ashish Vaswani, CEO and co-founder of Essential AI.

"The astonishing pace of change being driven by AI demands that organizations proactively collaborate with a wide variety of AI leaders to stay ahead of the curve and shape their future with confidence. The EY organization is no different – being guided by focused knowledge from different backgrounds is essential for leading-edge innovation and helping clients manage ethical and security risks, regulatory compliance and responsible leading practices," Sharma said in a statement.
