Andreessen Horowitz leads VGS's funding; Canvass Analytics raised $5M to explore AI applications

  • Very Good Security: Very Good Security (VGS) is a data security company founded in 2015 by established and driven entrepeneurial engineers, Mahmoud Abdelkader and Marshall Jones, who have a substantial history of payments and security focused engineering within financial and commercial institutions. Andreessen Horowitz is leading an $8.5 million Series A for VGS, and its partner Alex Rampell is joining the board.   • Spotinst: Spotinst provides SaaS optimization platform that helps companies purchase and manage excess cloud infrastructure capacity. Spotinst is a virtual cloud agnostic layer that functions as a multi-cloud enabler. It intelligently facilitates the balance between different infrastructure purchase options and offer line of smart infrastructure products that bring the public cloud experience to any hardware or facility. Spotinst has raised $35 million in a series B round of funding led by Highland Europe, with participation from Intel Capital, Vertex Ventures, and Leaders Fund. Read more »

SkyRyse is creating affordable, safer air transportation by incorporating advanced sensing and perception technology into existing aircraft. CA-based company, raised $25m in seed and Series A funding. The rounds were led by Venrock, with participation from Eclipse, Stanford University, Industry Ventures, Trucks VC, Cantos, and Engage Ventures. Read more »
  • SFOX: SFOX is a cryptocurrency prime dealer that provides professional traders and institutional investors higher returns when trading large volumes, through smart routing and a global integrated order book. SFOX has closed a $22.7 million round of Series A funding, led by Arjun Sethi from Tribe Capital and Social Capital. Read more »

MINES closed a Series A round of US$13 million led by The Rise Fund, a global fund managed by TPG Growth.
