Qualities you need to have to become a resourceful leader

For the past many years, it was a normal practice that the role of manger or team leader was intertwined with highly authoritarian descriptors such as sole decision maker, unyielding and controlling. As this style of leadership was practiced and implemented for years, a novel and more effective style of management was presented by expert management practitioners.

Managers working in organisations catering to BPO services were among the first ones to realise that there are immense benefits of learning to become a resourceful leader. Some of the positive takeaways that have gained prominence over the years include an increase in satisfaction levels of an employee in terms of levels of satisfaction, in terms of innovative ideas often leading to a decline in turnover rate. Such benefits often translate into increased revenue generation.

Do you have the pre-requisites that are required?

In order to emerge as a successful and resourceful leader, a person must be willing to ask himself if he/she truly possess the pre-requisites to lead with service rather than getting results only through coercion. The self-evaluation mechanism needs to be a harrowing or grueling experience for leaders working in a call centre solution providing companies. It should become a cyclical process with an aim of pointing out even the minute changes that are required in the current process.

Some of the questions that you need to ask yourself have been listed below:

  1. Am I well-versed with the art of listening?
  2. Do I show empathy when required?
  3. Do I believe that that customer healing can happen at any point of time?
  4. Am I well aware of the processes, scenarios that can emerge, and my own capabilities?
  5. Do I like listening to novel ideas or just reject them outright?
  6. Am I able to keep a holistic picture in mind?
  7. Am I a good enough curator?
  8. What are the activities am I undertaking to nurture the skills of my team members?
  9. Do I prefer to persuade my team or coerce them to reaching the desired result?
  10. Does the feeling of community even matter to me?

What can you do to come across as a more natural leader?

If you have devised a mechanism that is able to conduct self-evaluation in an honest manner, it is highly probable that you have come a long way to know about the knowledge that you need to grasp in order to emerge as a more effective and resourceful leader. To quote an example, you may have come to conclusion that you need to be more empathetic in your approach so that you are able to treat each and every individual member within the team as valued and unique. A leader operating in BPO services vertical must look to rectify the behaviors that are hurting the productivity, overall attitude and effectiveness of the call centre solution provider.

Striving to emerge as a resourceful leader often leads to increased levels of awareness that goes beyond than just the numbers. Instead it will help you in gauging the hardships that your employees have to go through on a daily basis. This awareness and clarity about the values, personalities and ethics will certainly be of great help if you are trying to service to the requirements of those within your team and resolve the problem in an effective manner.

Expanding your own horizons to think of the bigger picture will certainly help in reaping rewards. When you take out time to appreciate and serve the needs of those within your team, it will also help you to know where their aspirations lie. Thus, a leader in excellent BPO services provider must be prepared to share his/her own dreams and aspirations.

We can interpret from the above discussion that a leader gains increased knowledge and enhances his wisdom when he takes out time to service his needs and understands the needs of his team members and puts in the required efforts to fulfill them in an effective manner.
