Today's Entrepreneur is Niles Lichtenstein, CEO and Co-founder of The History ProjectThe History Project (THP) is changing how our history is told by re-inventing the digital time capsule. THP has created a space between the momentary chatter of social media and the automation of cloud storage to unify our most important memories and curate them beautifully into collaborative multi-media narratives that transcend generations.

Lichtenstein went to Harvard University for his degree. He led several business divisions like Interpublic Group and Velti.

I want to change the world.

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation? 

Rewarding: Seeing a concept come alive in the lives of your team, the ones you love and the people you serve.

Frustrating: When users want your product in concept, but you have the difficult task of translating how that comes to live in action

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make?

Being okay going out to potential users with a less than perfect product. By testing early and often and listening honestly to feedback we can build products people want and love not only in concept, but also in behavior.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

1. Fail Forward Fast 
2. Your Network wants to help you, so use it often and thoughtfully 
3. The investment machine is built to say "Yes" , but you have to give them a reason

Full bio

A business, technology and community leader with the proven ability to bring digital media products to market, to run a high-performing sales team, and to deliver corporate and operational strategy. With a background in management consulting at the Monitor Group (now Deloitte), experience as an advertising executive with The Interpublic Group or driving technology innovation at Velti, Niles believes in a collaborative culture that values team excellence and constant learning. A veteran of the digital media space with a specialization in mobile tech, including Messaging (SMS/Push), Mobile Applications (cross-platform), Mobile Web (xhtml, html5), Mobile Advertising and Mobile Analytics. A writer and community focused entrepreneur that grew up in the People's Republic of Berkeley and enjoys giving back to the area he grew up and creating platforms for storytelling and empowerment through digital content, media and mobile technology.
