Dr. Donald Sonn is a urologist who has been practicing at the Urology Group of Western New England since 1997. He is trained in the da Vinci Surgical System of minimally invasive surgery, and is also trained in GreenLight Laser Therapy, used for treating Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, or BPH, commonly called an enlarged prostate.
BPH is a non-cancerous condition that affects most men at some point in their lives. Some men show signs of prostate enlargement by the age of forty, and the numbers increase with age. As Dr. Donald Sonn knows, more than ninety percent of all men over the age of eighty have BPH.
The actual causes of prostate enlargement are not known.
