At Vator Splash London, Brent Hoberman, who founded Lastminute.com, PROfounders (VC firm), and sits on a number of Boards, including The Guardian, sat down with Julia and Kevin Hartz, the husband and wife team that founded Eventbrite in 2006.

Since bootstrapping their company for two years, and spending less than $250,000 of their own money, the company has since raised $200 million to achieve their mission to be “the world’s marketplace for live experiences,” said Julia Hartz.

Among the questions explored include how the two work together as a husband and wife team, the challenges in the early days, where they got the money to fund themselves, whether Kevin’s activity as an angel investor gets distracting since he’s also the CEO, the differences between starting a company in the US vs elsewhere, and the future of Eventbrite and its expansion plans around the world and into mobile.
