Read more...Digitial media network Alloy Digital, the company behind a series of popular YouTube channels including SMOSH, is getting a major cash infusion.
The self-described "next generation media company" has raised $30 million in Series A funding, it was announced Thursday. The round was led by ABS Capital Partners, along with existing investors, including Zelnick Media.
The money will be used to "accelerate future growth by adding complementary, relevant properties and talent appealing to the tastes and shifting consumption behaviors of P12-34 digital consumers," Alloy Digital CEO Matt Diamond said in a statement.
In addition to the funding, Deric Emry, General Partner at ABS Capital, has joined the Company’s board of directors.
“Alloy Digital made an extremely attractive investment opportunity,” Emry said in a statement. “It is at the forefront of the shift in content consumption to digital media. This trend is fundamentally changing the way that entertainment is created, distributed and monetized by delivering interactive entertainment directly to consumers at scale and more economically.”
Alloy Digital is a digital media company and a top-10 video network that caters to the 12-34 demographic that creates, produces and delivers original content across a network of media platforms. It also delivers customized digital campaigns for Fortune 500 advertisers, concept through execution, that involve sponsorship, ad sales, social media and promotion.

Both Smosh, and Clevver Media's flagship property ClevverTV, are among a select group of YouTube channels with over one billion video views, with SMOSH recently surpassing two billion views.

Alloy Digital’s digital media and video network has total audience of more than 90 million consumers and reaches over 57% of 12-34 year old internet users. It delivers more than 400 million monthly video streams. The network has increased over 50% in the last year and counts more than 30 million followers across its multiple active social media profiles. Alloy Digital’s properties measure a combined 7.5 billion views.
