Diversion and Dubstep funded for gaming and music; mostly smaller rounds this week

Early-stage

Affectiva, developer of technology that can analyze consumers’ facial expressions as they watch a video to determine how engaged they are and whether they like the video, raised $5.7 million in a Series B round of funding led by WPP’s consumer insight division, Kantar, and Myrian Capital.

Cardagin Networks, developer of a mobile loyalty and advertising platform, raised $4.25 million in Series A-1 funding led by private and angel investors.

Social gaming startup Diversion raised an undisclosed Series B round of funding led by TomorrowVentures, Hearst Corporation and others.

Dubset, a new website for curated music mixes, raised $500,000 in funding from Governing Dynamics Venture Capital and a team of angel investors.

JOOR, an online wholesale marketplace for contemporary fashion brands and independent boutiques, raised $2.25 million in Series A financing led by Battery Ventures with participation from Lerer Ventures, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Landis Capital, Forerunner Ventures, William M. Smith and Richard Mishaan.

MoboTap, developer of a mobile browser for Android, secured $10 million in Series A funding led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from Matrix Partners.

Nearbuy Systems, developer of solutions for the indoor "micro-location" market, secured $1 million led by Motorola Solutions Venture Capital.

Ness Computing, a stealth startup that’s developing a unique new personalized search service, raised $5 million in a Series A round of financing led by Vinod Khosla and Ramy Adeeb of Khosla Ventures, with participation from Alsop Louie Partners, TomorrowVentures, Bullpen Capital, a co-founder of Palantir Technologies and several angel investors.

 

 

 

PixelFish, provider of online video and marketing solutions for local businesses, closed a $4 million round of funding.

 

Tango, provider of free mobile video calling, raised $42 million in Series B funding led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and venture capital vehicle led by Len Blavatnik and Alex Zubillaga.

Unity Technologies, provider of the Unity development platform for games and interactive 3D on the Web, iOS, Android and more, secured $12 million in a Series B financing round led by WestSummit Capital in China and iGlobe Partners in Singapore.

Vserv, provider of mobile in-app advertising in India, closed $3 million in Series A funding by IDG Ventures India.

Concur, provider of integrated travel and expense management, placed a $5 million strategic investment in Yapta, provider of airfare tracking and hotel rate tracking services.

 

Late-stage

IP address management company BlueCat Networks secured $16.8 million in funding from Trident Capital.

 

Gaikai, building the cloud for gaming, completed a $30 million Series C funding round to accelerate the roll out of its network.

SupersonicAds, a social in-game advertising platform utilizing virtual currency monetization, secured its first institutional funding round of $4.2 million led by Greylock Israel (IL).
