A new take on analytics: see where users are clicking, scrolling and moving in real-time

SeeVolution, provider of website heat mapping and real-time analytics, announced Wednesday that it has secured $530,000 in angel financing, bringing the company’s total raised to $730,000.

Wait, website heat maps? That’s right.

X-Ray, the startup’s heat map technology, lets publishers see precisely how users are navigating pages on their website.

There are four kinds. Click Heatmap shows what objects, including links, images and buttons, users are clicking on. Scroll Heatmap captures how far down the page users are scrolling, taking into account each user’s display size and screen resolution. Live Click Heatmap displays website clicks as they happen in real-time. Finally, Mouse Movement Heatmap combines data from all users’ mouse movements on the website, revealing which sections are more popular than others.

It’s pretty brilliant technology, and one that a lot of people probably didn’t know was actually possible. Website owners are already obsessed with tracking site data and analytics so they can restructure pages for higher engagement, but with these heat maps, the wealth of data skyrockets.

“Businesses need to know how well their sites are working with their audiences, and daily data is sometimes not enough to find out what is and isn’t working with sales,” said Edo Cohen, CEO and co-founder of SeeVolution. “As the only company with real-time, live heatmaps, SeeVolution users can see what is interesting and what is generating clicks to increase sales and help with redesigns of the site to get the most out of the site.”

In addition to the heat map data, SeeVolution offers more traditional behavioral tracking and analytics tools, like a tool bar that displays key metrics in real-time. Conversion, traffic sources, visitor trends and more can all be used by owners to fine-tune their websites for their audience.

The free version of SeeVolution is highly limited but lets potential customers try the service out before committing. Otherwise, customers pay $14 or $39 per month, depending on the number of domains, the length of history wished to be preserved and traffic size.
