Google begins putting ads on Google Finance property

If you've watched the movie "Cars," the animated Pixar film, you may recall Lightning McQueen, the red race car whose nickname is "Stickers" because of all the sponsorship stickers plastered on him.

These days, with monetization a critical component to survival and sustainability, I've noticed a number of sites opting to be race cars, including Google.

Google has started putting ads on its Google Finance pages. It's the first time that Google is trying to monetize its two-year-old property, according to StreetInsider. It also comes a week after Google said it would start putting ads on YouTube's search-result pages. Others have taken note that Google is now putting more ads on its Google Maps and Google Images properties and is creating a pay-per-placement AdWords model for YouTube videos.
