The Venture Capital/Startup SIG meets on the 3rd Monday of the month in Berkeley

Full disclosure: Your correspondent is the co-chair of the East Bay Innovation Group's Berkeley Venture Capital/Startup SIG.

On Monday evening, July 21st, the conference room at Siemens Technology-to-Business' office in Berkeley was packed to capacity for the first monthly meeting of eBig's Berkeley Venture Capital/Startup SIG. The eBig VC/Startup SIG has met in Pleasanton for years, and will continue to do so, but through the efforts of yours truly and with the support of Siemens TTB, we've extended the SIG to meet in Berkeley on the 3rd Monday of the month.

The mission remains the same - education entrepreneurs about the venture capital world, fundraising, how to write compelling pitches, executive summaries and business plans and bringing investors and entrepreneurs together for networking and socializing.

A non-profit, eBig.org was founded in 2002 by a team of technology professionals to create partnerships with government, education, business and the community in order to assist people in the region to benefit from new technology opportunities, promote access to electronic information, communication and other technology resources and development and maintain public information resources that build a sense of community with regards to technology. eBig runs SIGS covering topics on venture capital, project management, Java, web development and best practices.

For the Berkeley VC/Startup SIG, we're working on our full calendar of events for 2009, which we expect will include speakers on Nanotech and a pitch presentation contests with the winners having their pitch videotaped and uploaded to Vator.TV.
