  • IntelyCare, a technology-enabled healthcare staffing platform, acquired CareRev, an on-demand workforce platform purpose-built for acute care. Both organizations will continue operating under their established brands and services
  • Speechify partnered with the New York City Department of Education to make its voice-based accessibility tools available to students across the city’s public school system. Students will be able use the platform on school computers to listen to webpages, PDFs, and homework assignments, as well as on mobile devices to support reading outside the classroom

  • Eir Partners, a private equity firm focused on health tech and tech-enabled services, closed its third fund, Eir Partners III, with $1 billion in capital commitments

Policy and government

  • The U.S. Department of Labor announced the availability of $98 million in funding to support the development of pre-apprenticeships in high-demand industries including construction, advanced manufacturing, information technology, and healthcare. Funded through the department’s YouthBuild Program, the grants will help provide academic support, occupational skills training and employment services to young people, ages 16 to 24, in communities where many youths are not participating in the labor force
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced an overhaul of the childhood vaccine schedule that recommends fewer shots to all children. Under the change — effective immediately — the vaccine schedule will more closely resemble Denmark’s, recommending all children get vaccines for 11 diseases, compared with the 18 previously on the schedule
