Sierra Ventures is a private venture capital firm focused on investments across all areasof Information Technology.  We work withentrepreneurs and management teams to originate and build new companies intolarge, profitable businesses.  Since 1982Sierra has raised nine venture funds with over $1.5 billion in committedcapital.  Our most recent fund, SierraIX, is a $400M fund.  Our LimitedPartners include established financial institutions, university endowments, andpension funds.  They also includeprominent individual investors, many of whom were founders, CEOs, or board membersof major publicly traded technology companies.

Stage:  Cross-stage funding - companies ranging frompre-revenue, early traction to growth stages greater than $2 million inquarterly revenues

Amount:  Initial investment is typically $2 million to$15 million. Over the life of a company, Sierra invests from $5 to $35 million.Sierra also makes seed-stage investments of $500,000 to $2 million in selectedcompanies

EIR Program:  For successful entrepreneurs with specificsector expertise and ready to start another great company


SeedProgram:  a specialized incubation program to invest inseed-stage companies

Geography:  aggressive pursuit across the globe --investments include companies based in the U.S., Europe, Canada, China andIndia.  Two-thirds of ourcurrent portfolio companies are located outside of the San Francisco Bay Area

Style:  active lead and operational investor that typicallyserves on the Board of Directors

Syndication:  invest alone or as a syndicate partner withother venture firms and strategic investors
