Company description

Mimetix is developing a device-based solution for osteopenia and osteoporosis. No interventional treatment exists for osteoporosis until it becomes moderate to severe, other than daily exercise and supplements. A need exists for a low burden, safe, and effective solution to address a treatment gap which includes 43M Americans. Mimetix meets this need through biomimetic mechanical stimulation, or vibration which stimulates bone growth through the same physiologic pathway as exercise. Mimetix delivers this vibration at an optimized amplitude and frequency through our proprietary PowerPac, a “smart” belt consisting of a motor and several sensors. The device is digital-health enabled and can communicate with a smartphone to provide usage information and reminders. The PowerPac beats out competitors in the space in terms of therapeutic benefit and price. It will retail for $200 (at 65% gross margin) and requires disposables for $30 monthly (95% gross margin) in a razor-razorblade model. We have promising early clinical results and are targeting a longitudinal pivotal study in the next 12-18 months which would allow for FDA approval. We are raising $500K to get us to our pivotal trial. The business is perfect for acquisition and addition to a portfolio of consumer-oriented bone health products.
