In the United States, food waste is between 30–40 percent of the food supply. In the EU it is now law that EU countries must halve per capita food waste at the retail and consumer level by 2030 and reduce food losses along the food production and supply chains. Wasted food is the single largest category of material placed in municipal landfills and represents nourishment that could have helped feed families in need.  Additionally, water, energy, and labor used to produce wasted food could have been employed for other purposes.

The experienced team at FreshSurety have built a new hardware platform that senses the freshness of perishable foods using the same mechanism as nature does, the sense of smell.     

Our system is based on our sensor which detects the chemicals naturally given off by perishable food products, (it is sensitive to below one-part-per-billion). Most important, it is inexpensive enough to monitor such products in the supply chain on a fresh food item by item basis.  We report the Condition of the food product, days Remaining life using Artificial Intelligence analysis of certain Targeted Chemical actors. Also, our system alarms if Microbial Contamination is detected based on its actual measured state.

Competing solutions based on time and temperature are wrong 84% of the time thus failing to change freshness outcomes.

Our solution actually works.  The market is full of solutions monitoring time and temperature.  We can prove these only detect 16% of problems in perishables and have repeatably failed to change supply chain outcomes.

We measure the respiratory state of the perishable accurately modeling the senescence process.  We provide supply chain managers with new tools to monitor, Freshness Status, Average Freshness Level Vs. Time and provide a Freshness Score per unit of measure.  In addition ,we monitor for microbial contamination byproducts and alert if we detect them.

This is why we can leverage the technology to detect Mycotoxins, (fungal metabolites which are the most toxic substances known to man and capable of infecting all types of grains) in grain at various levels throughout a gain bin detecting problems which can be fixed before contamination spreads
