Equine Smartbit took home Lewis Rice prize at this year’s Startup Connection. The annual event, held Wednesday at The Globe Building, 710 N. Tucker Blvd. in downtown St. Louis, featured dozens of startups in a wide variety of sectors including advanced manufacturing, bioscience, consumer products, education and technology. More than 60 startups were selected to present as part of the event’s Venture Showcase, competing for prizes that included cash, office space and professional services.
Equine Smartbit is a winner of 2018 Arch Grants Recipients. Arch Grants has handed more than $7 million to more than 130 early-stage companies since 2012. It calculates that past winners employ more than 1,400 people, generate $135 million in revenue and have attracted more than $173 million in follow-on capital.

Equine Smartbit has embeded advanced sensors into existing horse bit, which allows users to monitor horse vital signs in a real time basis through the mouth. The biometric data allows users to monitor a horse's health in a simple manner. Users can make data-informed decision when it comes to horse training, healthcare decisions, and much more.



Business model

Our business model is B2B. We have partnered with 3 world leading horse bit manufacturers. They have committed many hours to our product because they believe it will help them to further develop their market, and tap into new customers, and help to improve their product as well. Our business model to be Business to Business. We will leverage the Horsebit manufacturers to be our distributors and sell our product along with their bits through their existing retail channels.
