Company description

eGlobeTrekker is an online travel trivia game with content contributed by the community of users. There are three categories: “common tourist sites”, “off the beaten track”, and “what only the locals know.” While playing a location, users are invited to "meet the locals." Users also get a virtual passport where they can collect stamps after completing locations. Users can also advance to become a local guide (for others to meet), a trivia reviewer, or a trivia contributor.

Coming very soon: virtual travel souvenirs and location specific / local advertising.

Patent pending.

Business model

eGlobeTrekker is a wonderful new inventive community based game where users are not only the players, but they can become the “local guides”, the trivia reviewers, and/or the trivia contributors.  All the trivia in the game is contributed by regular people, like you and me, with their own travel photos and travel experiences.  Players can also “meet the locals” (i.e. the “local guides”) from around the world.  And of course, each player gets their own personal eGlobeTrekker passport and they can collect passport stamps and travel souvenirs.

There are many features that can be added on to this game, including: follow a live trekker (i.e. trivia contributed by a full-time traveler during their trek), play with friends or against friends, share my passport, etc.

Currently, there are two ways that this website could make money.  One is to allow purchasing of credits in order to continue playing the game (once the user is hooked) or in order to buy game souvenirs, etc.  Two, which is more likely the higher income stream, is to charge for advertising.  This is location specific / local advertising.  These ads would be displayed when the user is playing a specific location.  Advertisers can target their ads to a specific city, state, or country.  Travel advertisers would most likely be in the majority.
