Bone Health Technologies

San Francisco, California, United States United States
  • About
Company description

Bone Health technology has developed a technology focused on serving the 54 Million Americans that suffer from bone loss leading to osteoporosis or osteopenia.  If unchecked, bone loss results in potentially debilitating spine and hip fractures. While pharmaceuticals can forestall progression of bone loss, they have serious side effects and have a maximum recommended duration of use of 5 years.  Based on technology first developed by NASA to prevent bone loss in astronauts, Bone Health Technologies' Osteoboost Belt mimics the effects of weight bearing exercise along with its reduction in bone loss.  These effects have been validated in an NIH-funded study of post-menopausal women where 17/17 patients saw a reduction in blood markers of bone loss. These results led to a recent award of $2M to support follow-on clinical studies. BHT is now raising $1M for initial commercialization of its FDA registered product.

Business model
