(Problem)

46 Million indians travel daily from one city to another using different modes of ground transportation.Due to an overcrowded & broken public transportation a lot of them rely on taxis to travel between cities.Over a million taxis are used daily exclusively to travel between cities (>150 miles). The long distance indian intercity taxi market is mainly catered by offline local taxi vendors who own cars ranging from 1-50.
Due to the highly unorganized nature the sector suffers from the following pain points-
1. lack of transparency of fare & service.
2. lack of safety because of no background verifications for the car or the driver. 
3. Booking is a tedious time consuming process which involves physically visiting taxi vendors & haggling for fares.
4. Unlike buses, rails & flights the traditional taxi driver charges return fare even for oneway drops sightseeing the reason he/she isn't able to able to score a customer on their way back thus doubling prices.

A platform which connects Indian long distance intercity travellers with taxi drivers to make ground transportation economical & universally accessible by shifting bookings from the existing offline medium to online.

(Why)

Nikhil was one of the initial employees for Uber India & Raghav was working for a disruptive B2B travel startup which got acquired by a leading GDS when we found this huge gap which Uber had left on the table because of a 40 Mile travel limit.
After doing an initial pilot in Delhi we found the market already existed from both sides the travellers who used taxis to travel between cities & the taxis that exclusively drove long distance (>150 Miles),but the transactions were highly unorganized & were done offline.

When Ujjala's Intercity trip from Delhi to Jaipur roughly 160 miles with friends got ruined along with hotel bookings etc when a taxi booked using a tedious process of calling & haggling with over a dozen taxi vendors didn't show up at the last moment & no one took responsibility she became part of the team.

( Process right now )

1. 96% of the Indian long distance intercity taxi market is catered by offline taxi vendors which the traveller either physically visits & if the taxis is available for that date he/she haggles for terms & fare.
2. Or use Online/Offline directories such as YellowPages, local directories call a dozen or so listed taxi vendors & then go through the same process of haggling & unpredictability again.

-By leveraging scale & technology we connect the taxi driver to a separate customer on his return leg thus reducing fare by 50%. 
- By taking a deposit by the taxi partner we ensure quality & no last minute cancellations by penalizing them.
- 3 simple steps in less than 30 odd seconds book a guaranteed long distance taxi with upfront fares anywhere across India.

A 15% commission is charged from the traveller at the time of the booking being made.(Even after the commission we on an average are 12% cheaper by negotiating better rates from vendors by providing them bulk steady business & saving them on marketing spend. )
