Company description

SHOWER SOUNDS is a patented (patent # 9,554,673) Bluetooth speaker-enabled shower caddy that stores a cellphone or mini-tablet, valuables, and a dry towel. the caddy can provide convenient storage for millions of consumers, including homeowners, apartment dwellers, students in dorms, campers, gym members, beach and state park visitors, rv owners, boaters, forestry workers and military personnel located in remote areas.

First responders need immediate notification. Gamers don't want to miss a minute of action. Boaters and students need portable waterproof storage.

Since bathers can towel off in the shower, they will be dry and warmer when they step out. Energy savings are possible if consumers lower their thermostats because of this.

The container has a window that will display a phone up to the size of an I-PAD mini. Apple has sold over 500 million cell phones and over 200 million tablets. None are waterproof.

ABI Research expects that global revenues for mobile accessories will reach US$81.5 billion in 2015 and is forecast to grow to $101 billion in 2020 at a compound annual growth rate of 4.3%. The caddy also fills a niche in the $2.7 billion dollar bath accessory market.

Many companies make shower caddies but none make a caddy that stores a cellphone and dry towel.

Each caddy will retail for $69.99 retail. After materials costs of $12.15 and an $10.50 Amazon commission, totaling $22.65, the gross profit is $47.34, a 68% margin.

We have a prototype. A local factory is interested in manufacturing the caddy. We need injection molds!

Business model

Lack of cellphone access in the shower is a big customer problem. Using SHOWER SOUNDS, cellphone owners can safely use expensive phones and tablets in the shower. This product solves the problem and fills an unmet need, so that it becomes a ‘must-have’ product experience for users. Each caddy will retail for $69.99 retail. After materials costs of $12.15 and an $10.50 Amazon commission, totaling $22.65, the gross profit is $47.34, a 68% margin.

Competitive advantage

Many companies make shower caddies but none make a caddy that stores a cellphone and dry towel.  Some shower caddy manufacturers include Zenith Products (Zenna Caddies), InterDesign (York Lyra and others), OXO (Good Grips and others), simplehuman (tension rod), Spa Creations, and more.

There are a few Bluetooth-enabled products sold today. Kohler makes a Bluetooth-enabled showerhead but it costs over $100. Hammacher Schlemmer sells a Bluetooth-enabled  shower/mirror radio that costs $99.95.

The unique features of portability with cell phone and tablet storage position the company as a vital partner with its customers. This is a value that can’t be found anywhere else, which sets this product apart from the competition.
