AdelaVoice – Mitigating the Dangers of Texting

They should all know better. Although 90 percent of U.S. adults believe text messaging while driving is dangerous enough to be outlawed, 22 percent of drivers between 35 and 44 admit to texting while driving, and the percentage increases to 50 percent for younger drivers. With its StartTalking application and Conversation Services (CS) platform, AdelaVoice is developing state-of-the-art technologies that reduce distractions thereby improving safety and accessibility in situations that require the user’s attention to be focused elsewhere.

AdelaVoice blends the power of a mobile user’s voice with state-of-the-art recognition technologies to create a new, innovative and interactive relationship between users and their mobile devices with its StartTalking application.

StartTalking lets mobile users text while keeping their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. Most importantly, StartTalking is the world’s first true and only 100 percent eyes-free and hands-free messaging application that allows mobile users to text without ever touching the device. Instead, they simply speak a pre-programmed word that “wakes up” the device, which then begins verbally conversing with the user to send messages.

Consumer Solution

With StartTalking, consumers now have the ability to text totally hands-free and eyes-free, while dramatically improving the safety of text messaging while driving.  To begin StartTalking, users simply speak commands, dictate messages and listen to responses without having to touch buttons or look at the screen.

StartTalking boasts recognition accuracy of more than 99 percent on the “wake-up” word, while rejecting more than 99 percent of all non-relevant words. Mobile users also benefit from the speed of StartTalking, which can dictate and send text messages up to five times faster than with traditional texting.

Mobile handset customers can use StartTalking at no cost. Paid upgrades for StartTalking are available and include premium services and conversation support for other mobile applications, such as Twitter and Facebook.
