Interview with Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters

Venture capitalists aren't pouring much money into EdTech these days. Last year, the sector saw a significant decline in financing. Some $1.8 billion was invested in the EdTech sector during the first six months of 2023, down 58% from the previous year. For the full year, VC funding is expected to hit $3.5 billion, down from $10.6 billion in 2022, according to EdWeek.

But we don't need venture financing to improve our education system. Sometimes, it just needs a little tweak here and there by dare I say - government! In this case, I'm not referring to the controversial $250,000 government funds spent in "Woke" education.

I'm referring to a government that gets out of the way in order for schools to perform.

From our partner company WeOverMe, here's an interview with Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters on how he's innovating in K-12 schools. An interesting statistic is that private schools cost about $7500 per student but public schools cost $10,000. And despite public schools costing more in that state, they underperform private schools. Walter talks about how he's creating more school options for kids, including micro schools. And during a time when mental health is on the rise, Walters is also supporting legislation to put the 10 Commandments back in schools and a chaplain as an alternative to social workers.
