Data.world, a cloud-based data organizer that helps businesses catalog and understand their data, has been named a Strong Performer in the Q4 Forrester Wave: Machine Learning Data Catalogs report.
Forrester, an independent research firm with a focus on data and analytics, notes, "Organizations seeking to start with a solid modern data platform foundation and grow to accommodate governance and analytic use cases will have a good partner in data.world."
In total, ten companies were selected for the report, including Alation, Alex Solutions, Collibra, erwin, Hitachi Vantara, IBM, Infogix, Informatica, and Io-Tahoe. The report looked at 39 different criteria.
The report's findings are also notable for data.world, as it was the only company to "receive the highest scores possible across the user experience, collaboration, security, and data engineering criteria."
Finally, the report mentions that data.world's user experience is "intuitive, clean, and connected across key data roles (engineer, steward, analyst, and consumer)."
This last part is important, as Machine Learning Data Catalogs (MLDC) need to be intuitive, as these systems should be accessible to anyone, not just data scientists and others that are "in the know." The purpose of companies like data.world is to make the ever-growing mountain of data that companies need to excel accessible. Having a clean interface, a robust search, and other accommodations make the data that much more powerful.
The report can be downloaded directly from Forrester (paid) or through data.world's website (here).
