Unicobag is a B2B and B2C company working to alleviate baggage woes at airports
Founded in 2016, the company has raised almost 400k in angel investments
If you find yourself often flying around the country, count yourself lucky if you've never had to deal with lost baggage. Not only can it be a huge annoyance, but it can be a confusing, time-consuming process to try and get the bag back.
There is then the issue of getting the bag back you, especially when in a rush or on a trip. Unicobag, founded in 2016, is working to alleviate those issues from both the business and customer sides.
Essentially, the company has created a B2B system that is integrated with 15 different airlines and is applied in six different airports - IAD, SFO, LAX, ORD, DEN, JFK. The system acts as software service to manage lost luggage and create claims, while also giving the airports full IATA 753 compliance.
IATA 753 basically sets out to reduce lost luggage and offer a fully-trackable baggage solution when packages do go missing. Not only is lost luggage an obvious bad look for the airline and airport, but it is also costly to the tune of $2.1 billion in the aviation industry as a whole.
On the B2C side, Unicobag acts as an Uber-style system that will collect your lost baggage at an airport and get it delivered safely to your location. This gives customers some sort of peace-of-mind in the event of lost luggage, especially during those times when you are in an unfamiliar city and need to get those personal items back as soon as possible.
With so many of us flying on the regular, systems that improve the baggage claim and reclamation system for both airlines and customers are much welcome.
