CARSgen Therapeutics completed $30M funding; mPrest raised $20M; Wingz closed $11M Series B funding

  • DMWay Analytics, a Jerusalem, Israel-based startup specializing in expert systems for creating predictive analytics models, raised $1 million in seed funding. JVP Labs made the investment. Founded in 2014 by Prof. Jacob Zahavi, Dr. Ronen Meiri, and CEO Gil Nizri, DMWay Analytics provides a system that automates the predictive analytics model development process and allows data scientists at every level to build accurate models.

  • Paris, France-based Aircall, which develops software that enables companies to improve the phone systems used by their teams, has closed a $2.75 million seed round led by Balderton Capital and joined by a couple of unnamed US, France, and Germany-based angel investors as well as FundersClub. Previously, the company participated in 500 Startups' accelerator in San Francisco, and according to Maddyness landed $800,000 in funding last summer from Fotolia founder Oleg Tscheltzoff and other business angels.

  • Israeli cyber security vendor imVision, has completed a $4 million series A financing round with the participation of China's CE Ventures, Pitango Venture Capital, and other investors. The company intends to use the funding to strengthen the company's Correlative Behavioral Analysis (C-BA) system and to develop the company's business with worldwide networking providers. The company also announced that Cellcom Israel Ltd. CTO Ron Shvili, CTO has joined its advisory board.

  • Medical technology company, Jan Medical, announced today that it has secured $7.5 million in Series C funding from Brainlab, Inc., which will go toward ongoing clinical trials and FDA approval of its diagnostic tool designed to quickly detect abnormal neurological conditions.

  • CustomerMatrix, a New York City-based provider of a cognitive computing platform, closed a $10.5 million Series B funding round. The round was led by HSBC, with participation from Aster Capital, and existing investors Newfund and True Global Ventures. The round was led by HSBC, with participation from Aster Capital, and existing investors Newfund and True Global Ventures.

  • Sky PLC ("Sky"), Europe's entertainment company, today announces that it has invested $10 million in DataXu, a leading provider of programmatic marketing analytics, data management and media activation software. The investment, one of Sky's largest to-date, is the latest example of Sky taking equity shares in innovative companies, bringing new ideas, insight and services into Sky's business.

  • Wingz, a scheduled airport ride startup that leverages innovative scheduling technology to provide travelers with a simple, hassle-free passenger booking and riding experience, has closed an $11 million Series B funding round led by Expedia, Altimeter Capital, and Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff. Wingz also named Chris Brandon, who brings a proven track record of successfully growing early to mid-stage technology companies, as CEO.

  • iROKO, an online entertainment platform that targets audiences in Sub-Saharan African countries, plans to strike more deals in Nigeria’s booming movie industry after securing $19 million in funding from French premium cable company Canal+ and Kinnevik, a returning investor. That amount is divided into $12 million of capital funding, which will be used to develop iROKO’s business and technology; and $7 million that is not from equity or debt financing and earmarked solely for several years of content development deals with studios. iROKO has now raised $34 million since it launched in September 2011.

  • mPrest, a global provider of mission-critical monitoring and control software for the Internet of Things (IoT), announced today that it has raised a $20 million Series A round of funding. The round was led by GE Ventures, the venture arm of GE, and OurCrowd, one of the world's leading equity crowdfunding platforms. mPrest will use the investment to expand its international presence in the industrial and commercial markets and rapidly scale to meet the soaring needs of the IoT world.

  • CARsgen Therapeutics, a private and venture backed company focused on the development of CAR-T-based autologous immunotherapy to treat solid tumors, today announced the completion of a $30 million Series B private financing. KTB Ventures and Jolly Innovation Ventures led the round, which included participation from Kaitai Capital and JIC GenesisFountain Healthcare Ventures. Chi Hoon Hyun of KTB Ventures will join the board of directors in conjunction with the financing.
