No. 1 mistake: Overbuilding the initial product release.

Today's Entrepreneur is Roman Arzhintar, an entrepreneur and investor. He enjoys building products and companies. He has been a founder of several companies, have purchased two, sold two, and always interested in what's out there.

Here's a little about Arzhintar:

I am a(n): Entrepreneur

Companies I've founded or co-founded: All Media Network, SideReel

Companies I work or worked for: Rovi Corporation, Rhythm One, Fenwick & West

Company exits (of companies you founded): SideReel , 2011 All Media Network , 2015

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make?

Overbuilding the initial product release, so that launch takes too long and the product launched tries to do too much. Less is more.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

1. Team cohesion is critical to building product, particularly at the early stages.

2. Research and use existing technologies whenever possible.

3. Figure out the MPV for the product and the business as soon as possible, preferably before building - startups have few experiments they can run before exhausting funds, and because they are small, they need to devote all resources to each experiment, so choose those experiments carefully.

Full bio

I was a founder and CEO of SideReel when it was acquired by Rovi in 2011.  Subsequently, I was part of the team that repurchased SideReel and other web properties from Rovi, formed All Media Network, and as President, sold All Media Network to blinkx within 18 months. I started my career as a technology lawyer at Fenwick & West.
